Published: April 21, 2017

AKRON––Raland Hatchett, a seasoned professional in management, fundraising and leadership, will begin his new role as executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Summit, Medina, and Stark Counties, Inc. on April 24.

“After vetting many excellent candidates, our board of directors is very excited to appoint Raland as our new executive director,” said Dave Glass, immediate past board chair and search committee chair for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Summit, Medina, and Stark Counties, Inc.  “His passion for mentoring and working with youth, coupled with his experience, energy and other abilities made him the clear choice for our agency.”

“Young people face a lot of difficult choices in their lives, and many don’t have the support to become productive members of our community,” said Hatchett.  “Big Brothers Big Sisters of Summit, Medina, and Stark Counties is a time-tested successful mentoring organization that provides children with the one-to-one support they so desperately need.  I am looking forward to leading this organization as we strive to help each child in our program achieve success through the power of mentoring.”

Hatchett knows the positive impact of mentoring, having previously served as a mentor. He said these experiences inspired him to look at how one child’s relationship with a mentor can impact the well-being of an entire family unit and furthermore, impact the community at large.

“When children are told they have potential, it is life changing,” said Hatchett. “I am excited to help provide the children in our community with all that Big Brothers Big Sisters has to offer.”

Most recently, Hatchett was the executive director of the Greater Cleveland Partnership’s MBDA Business Center. Hatchett has a master’s degree in business administration with a specialty in finance from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management and is a graduate of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 2016.
