1,125 bikers raise over $31,500 for Stewarts Caring Place

Published: September 20, 2017

CUYAHOGA FALLS––Rubber City Harley-Davidson and their Harley Owners Group (H.O.G) chapter came together for the annual Bikers for Boobs poker run on Aug. 20.

There were 156 volunteers, 888 riders and passengers, along with vendors and employees that totaled 602 bikes and 1,125 total participants.

This year’s ride was dedicated to a longtime chairperson of the committee, Sandy Hanawalt, who passed away in December, making this year “Sandy’s Ride”.

The community really came together to make this event a huge success!

At the Sept. 11 H.O.G. meeting, the chapter presented a check to Jeannine Marks, along with other board members from Stewarts.

This year’s combined effort raised $31,500 to support the great work that Stewarts Caring Place does within our community.

Stewart's is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that began as a grassroots effort led by the family and friends of Dr. Stewart Surloff whose cancer journey ended in the fall of 2001.

During his life, Stewart shared the struggles and triumphs of his cancer experience and taught us that "there is more to cancer than chemotherapy and surgery."

Today, Stewart's carries on his legacy by providing support services, free-of-charge, to individuals and families touched by cancer.

“We are honored to be able to support Stewart’s, they are such a great asset to our community.” said Mike Davis, dealer principal of Rubber City Harley-Davison.

He invites the community to spread the word so they can raise even more next year.

Next year’s 9th Annual Bikers for Boobs Poker Run will be held on Sunday, Aug. 19.
