The downtown Akron law firm Oldham Kramer has added two attorneys to expand its services to business clients.

Jonathan Blakely and Jennifer Jacquemain recently joined the firm.

The two previously worked in Akron from 2006 to 2009 at Bernlohr, Niekamp, Weisensell–formerly Bernlohr Wertz–where Jacquemain had been for 11 years and where Blakely had been since 2006.

They left Akron in 2009 to join Weston Hurd in Cleveland, where they were partners in the firm’s business group.

Blakely’s practice at Oldham Kramer focuses on business reorganization, restructuring, workouts and commercial bankruptcy as well as real estate and tax collection.

Jacquemain practices in the same areas, but also in commercial, banking, finance lease, construction and commercial litigation. Their practices are complemented by the business-focused legal services already offered by Oldham Kramer.

“Our clients get tremendous value with the additions of Jon and Jennifer,” said the firm’s managing member Reg Kramer.

“They are two very accomplished and experienced business lawyers, and they allow us to expand the legal services we are already offering our clients. Their skills complement the litigation and business-related law for which we are known.”

“We meet people at a very stressful time in their lives, when they are losing control of their businesses,” Blakely said. “I see my role as guiding them through the process, helping to maximize their protection and minimize their risk. I carefully explain the options, and let them know they are going to get through this.”

“Over the years, Jon and I have worked together in a variety of matters,” Jacquemain said, adding that their practices are natural coupling as their clients’ matters take their course.

“That is to say, as clients, whether creditors or debtors, become involved in bankruptcy and reorganization proceedings, it is typical for them to have related and pending litigation matters,” she said.

“Jon and I work together to serve those clients’ needs efficiently and seamlessly.

Additionally they have teamed up to serve financial institutions with commercial portfolios, in which both bankruptcy and commercial litigation experience is required and have worked together in other commercial matters like those involving representation of national franchisees in franchise litigation.

Jacquemain said the size of Oldham Kramer, with about 15 attorneys gives them the opportunity to showcase what they do while also benefitting the firm.

“This is a full-service firm in a small package and all the attorneys here are very client-focused,” she said. “It’s not about competition between attorneys, but coming together to help clients.”

While the two attorneys are back in Akron, many of their clients and matters remain located throughout Ohio, Blakely said.

“It is very helpful in advising clients on structuring businesses and deals to draw on Jennifer’s commercial litigation experience to identify potential problems.

“We are very excited to join Oldham Kramer and know we will be better able to serve our clients with the support and expertise found at Oldham Kramer.”
