As 2023 draws to a close, the Akron Legal News has dedicated a portion of this edition to its annual list of newly certified delinquent parcels/properties in Summit County.
To be certified as delinquent, a property’s real estate taxes must remain unpaid for one full year. By law, the list of newly certified delinquent parcels is required to be published annually.
The list of parcels on page five is produced by the Summit County Fiscal Office.
It is also available online at akronlegalnews.com. Property owners can search for their names on the website if they are uncertain whether they are delinquent.
The list is current as published in today’s newspaper, Dec. 18, 2023.
How is the list compiled?
The Summit County Fiscal Office bills property owners semi-annually, with the first half due in February and the second portion to be paid in July.
After the close of the second half property tax collection period, parcels of real estate with a balance due of $5 and above are certified as delinquent.
If the taxes remain unpaid for 60 days from the date they are certified delinquent, the property is subject to foreclosure. Taxpayers who enter into a contract to repay the monies owed can avoid the county taking further action.
Payment Options
Those who wish to settle their unpaid taxes can stop by the Summit County Fiscal Office or mail a check or a money order to the following address:
Summit County Fiscal Office, 175 S. Main St., Room 320, Akron, OH 44398
Payments can also be made by credit card, including Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Discover, or via e-check by visiting fiscaloffice.summitoh.net.

The Summit County Fiscal Office offers many payment plan options. Monthly payments are based on a taxpayer’s financial status.
A repayment plan allows a taxpayer to avoid a tax lien sale, foreclosure and additional penalty and interest charges.
The goal is to establish an amount that allows the taxpayer to reduce the outstanding balance while maintaining the ability to pay upcoming semi-annual tax bills and keep the account current.
